Hey human friends, have you ever wondered what training looks like from a four-legged point of view? My name is Truck. I am a two-year-old St. Bernardish family service dog, and I am going to explain how you can team up with any dog of any age to improve your relationship and communication in just 10 minutes a day. It’s all about the FORMS. As you master them, love will tether you and your dog together. You will find flow and purpose.
My human, Greg, and I are on this journey. I speak human much better than he speaks dog. He’s getting better at listening and watching me, and I am working on focusing.
When he says, “YES!”
I know I’m on the right path.
When he growls “NO!”, Channeling ancient wolves, foxes, and coyotes, I pause, and search for the next cue. I tilt my head,
“What was that, heel?” “YES!”
Once I have FORMED UP next to his side. Then he croons, “goooood,” I droooool and get this warm peanut butter feeling in my belly.
Scooby and Shaggy, Snoopy and Charlie, Santa’s Helper and Bart, Clifford and Emily Elisabeth all agree that when dogs and humans communicate well, they live lives of love and beauty.
The adventure is not one sided, believe me dogs teach humans as well or better than humans teach dogs. Wanna see what I mean? Let’s agree to eliminate all distractions and spend 10 minutes a day together in a place where we can really connect. Say YES to training as an inter-species team. If you bring the treats, I’ll share
THE FORMS I can make with my human.
